For the past .ten years, January 26th has been observed in India as Independence Day. The great majority of the people of India long for the day when' their land will be completely independent of foreign control. They believe that India's semi-starved millions can be raised: that their stigma of mass illiteracy can be taken away: that her internal differences oan be resolved: that her many problems that baffle and perplex her British rulers can be settled, when responsibility and power passes completely into Indian hands.
