Hadllow probably named after Hadllow castle in England. The house was built for an English lady in 1894. Materials used were imported from England. Later was sold to Payne of Payne Brothers merchandising firm. It was then sold to Senator Clarkson. Guests included field Marshall Smuts.

Coedmore in Stainbank nature reserve. Erected in c.1885 for the Stainbank family. Unusual mixture of Scotish Baronial with veradhas. This estate was one of the first farms in Natal. The greater part of the estate was handed over to the public as nature reserve.

745 Ridge road, the Elephant house. Built c.1850. Among its owners was Efward Snell after whom the Snell parade was named. In the eighties the house belonged to Alexander Murchie after whom Murchie's passage was named. A Murchie family member sold the house to Brian Agar, who restored it.
