The left side of Laduma's outfit. Laduma holds the spear now upright for demostration. his hat is from narrow pieces of genet skin at the front and at the back and both sides from the skin of the red Duiker.

Laduma, sitting on Bafungile's bed, scraping goat horns to prepare them as medicine containers. He works them on a wooden head rest, turned upside down. In the foreground a very low table with one of the two armlets Madela is preparing from genet skin.

In Bafungile's house: Two healing methods combined, "inyamazane" and " chasing awya evat ghost or evil spirit" 1. "Inyamazane"= wild animals (remains) i.e. inhale smoke of small parts of burned animals, especially antelops, put in potsherd. This method is called "ukuhogela", i.e.

Laduma demonstrate how he prevents the lightning to strke his kraal by means of a lightning-rod partly smeared with anti-lightning medicine. Madela turns slowly to the four quarters of the globe pointing with the rod towards the heaven. He changes the hands in which he holds the rod.

Laduma in front of the tree Clerodendrum glabrum (Verbenaceae in his  neighbour's Mashingeni Khumal kraal. It is a tree which is said never to be striken by lightning. From its branches the lightning-rods are made.

Laduma with a magical powerful necklace, iziqu, from the cones of casuarina equisetifolia (casuarinaceae) which the author had bought in 1977 from the Santa Lucia Bay. The pendant is a container, umfece, for snuff-medicine, carved by Laduma Madela from the wood of umthombo.

Good Friday 1979: Madela presents a spear of the type isijula which he had forged and treated with medicines to three men who had ordered it. They intended to kill with it a " baboon", be it an animal or a human baboon, who used to milk their cows at might.

Sarturday before Easter Sunday 1979: Ziphelaphi and Laduma in front of the Piper which the author had hired at Vryheid for a round flight. Unfortunately the weather was bad so that it was impossible to fly over the Madelas' kraal.

Laduma sits on Bafungile's bed in front of "Zauberei im Zululand" and Die Bantubibel des Blitzzauberers Laduma Madela" and many albums with photos by the author in his kraal. He wears a necklace of roughly made wooden beads (made by himself).
