Laduma demonstrate how he prevents the lightning to strke his kraal by means of a lightning-rod partly smeared with anti-lightning medicine. Madela turns slowly to the four quarters of the globe pointing with the rod towards the heaven. He changes the hands in which he holds the rod. Here he has the rod in his right hand. In his left hand he holds a rounded stone from the river smeared with anti-lightning medicine. Laduma's hat is from a tortoise-shell protecting him from lightning. His necklace is from "pearls" from the leg bones of a duiker and has a duiker hoof as a pendant. ("Medicizien", plate 15 and pp. 85, 86)
