The Government of India brought up this question before the forum of the United Nations by a letter dated 22 June 1946. Briefly, the Indian complaint was that a quarter of a million people of Indian origin in the Union of South Africa, mostly descendants of laborers and traders who went there between 1860 and 191 I at the request of the then Government of Natal.....
