Born by one and the same mother: Suasa, Merica, Laduma. Merica was proud of having carried Laduma when he was a baby on her back.

In Bafungile's house. Susa shows Merica the photo albums the author had sent Laduma. On the floor sits a man of extremely low rank who tries to get some food everywhere.

In Bafungile' house. Laduma is resting on her bed. Ziphelaphi and Bafungile (only her yellow head cloth is visible) sit politely on mats on the floor. To the left are partly visible: the shafts of a battle axe and an inhlendla (cf. to follow: F22/28).

Madela starts to forge a spear for the ceremonial killing of goats from rod iron (reinforcing steel). He works on an iron anvil (part of a rail from the railways). (Cf. "Handwerke", plate 1 bottom, and pp.94,95.)
