Nera Laduma's kraal after returning from the Mthethwa kraal. Laduma had had his impressive walking stick with him with the hand of a baboon as a crook(mostly regarded as a hand of a man).

As a suprise for the author Laduma fastned this drawing on brown paper just for one hour at the entrance of his kraal. To the left: The rock of all creatures appeared; to the right the mighty elephant, indlovu yamandla, which opened the rock of all rocks.

On the day before the killing of the ox quite a few wooden meat trays were deposited in Bafungile's house. Ziphelaphi serves Susa with beer. The beer pot which is covered stands between them. A beer twirl lies in an enamel basin filled with water. Susa wears a red lourie feather in his hair.

While Susa walks up and down Laduma stand still and presents the ancestors' spear.

The killed ox is cut by the slaughterer Mashingeni Khumalo. Behind his a son of Susa. To the right Laduma's friend, the old Mjijani Nkonkonyane Madide. To the left of Mashingeni is Mbabazeni Madela.

On the place where the ox had been slaughtered four men drink beer. The beer pot is to the left, the drinking calabash is in an enamel dish. Some intestines and part of the ox' stomach are on one of the meat trays. Susa had to eat ceremonially little pieces from the ox' raw stomach.

Some meat was carried into the hut on a wooden tray. It was then placed on the green leaves.

In Bafungile's house several women (more than on the picture) eat from the raw contents of the ox' stomach, umswani. This food is a priviledge of married women.

Laughingly Laduma entered the hut and ate some of the women' food because he liked it. Very soon he left the hut again.
