OBJECT OF THE ACT
THE OBJECT of this enactment as expressed in its Long Title is to provide for the establishment of group areas, for the control of the acquisition of immovable property and of the occupation of land and premises, and, of course, for matters incidental thereto.....

SUMMARY OF THE GROUP AREAS ACT, 1950

The Group Areas Act is largely based on the principles of the existing legislation, but goes beyond those principles in some respects. Firstly, it extends the principle of exclusive racial areas so as to provide for exclusively European areas.

SUMMARY OF THE GROUP AREAS ACT, 1950

For the past hundred years there has been in force in South Africa legislation deferentially affecting the various racial groups now comprised within the Union of South Africa.

Natives (Prohibition of Interdicts) Act, Act No 64 of 1956

The Act was to prohibit the granting of interdicts or other dilatory orders of court having the effect of staying or suspending the removal or ejectment of natives in certain cases, and to provide for other incidental matters
