The end of an era: These three girls, from left to right, Joslyn Taylor (15) , Teri Dowson (16) and Nicola Joubert (15) are the last to be awarded the prestigious Girl Guide's Badge which has now been discontinued. The Girl Guides system has been revamped and, whereas it formerly catered for girls in the 11 to 16 age group, the course is now divided into two sections: The Girls Guides section for those between 10 to 13 while those aged between 14 to 17 enter the Ranger Guides school. The founder Badge has been awarded by the District Commissioner for Girl Guides to those girls who expelled in a variety of disciplines, such as leardership, community services, cooking and outdoor services like first aid and camping.
