It all started in 1914 under a banyan tree in Tongaat Section, where the Shree Veeraboga Vasantharaayar Sarithuram (Prophecies of Kali Yuga) was read. It was also here that the idea of the Shree Veeraboga Vasantharaayar Dharamah Pareepaluna Mudam (SWDP) originated. The first temple, a wood and iron structure, was erected on the site where the present Gandhi & Company building stands.
