THE Yogananda Ashram was founded at Cavendish in January, 1960, to perpetuate the spiritual teachings of Sri Paramhansa Yogananda. principles of truth in such a way as to be understandable and applicable to modern man. Yogananda showed through his teachings the way that science and religion could be brought into perfect working harmony. Paramhansa Yogananda also dedicated himself personally to the task of bringing the people of the East and of the West together in a spirit of tolerance, understanding and cooperation. He had a message and technique for individuals and societies struggling to grow to greater fulfilment. The movement started by Paramhansa Yogananda is now an international one with more than 300 centres all over the world. These centres receive help in the way of literature and lectures from the mother-centre, Los Angeles, California. Paramhansa Yogananda, who was born in India ,and initiated into Kriya Yoga by his guru Sri Yukteswar, founded the Self-Realisation Fellowship in America in 1920 and dedicated his life to the cause of uniting the world's religions in a greater understanding and harmony. He taught that men should respect one another's religion. No matter what form it takes,
love of God is sacred and deserves our reverence.
