THE Natal Tamil Vedic Society was formed on the 26th September, 1951, when two of the most outstanding Tamil organisations, the Hindu Tamil Institute and the Young Men's Vedic Society, amalgamated under the name, The Natal Tamil Vedic Society. The Young Men's Vedic Society, the older of the two organisations, had been founded in 1912 and the Hindu Tamil Institute on the 27th February, 1914
