Cornelis Moll (1815-80) was the twenty-fourth child of his parents. Set up as a printer in Cape Town but eventually became insolvent. In 1844 he came to Natal bringing with him his printing press. In March of that year, he founded the first Natal newspaper - De Natalier en Pietermaritzburgsche Trouwe Anntekenaar- with the eccentric Charles E. Boniface as editor. The paper ceased publication in September 1846 as a result of a libel case won by Boniface against Moll.
