Government House, now Natal Training College (for teachers), has undergone many structural changes in its day. This was its appearance in 1875 when its tenant was Sir Benjamin C.C. Pine, about t leave it forever after the British Secretary for the Colonies had recalled him for his mishandling of the Langalibalele affair. The famous porch and the mounting block remain today but the left-hand portion of the building was increased by another story and the cottage structure on the right has been demolished.
