This is a diagram of a survey of a trekker farm. The boundaries were laid out by riding a horse for so many minutes between various landmarks or beacons in the vicinity. This primitive method - the only one then available - proved surprisingly accurate when later verified by a proper survey. Disputes about boundaries in trekker times were, by common consent, limited to serious discrepancies.
