Daniel Lindley (1801-80) This American Presbyterian minister was accepted by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions in 1834 and directed to minister to the South African Zulus. In his work among that people, he came into contact with the Voortrekkers and for a time was their pastor. They regarded him so highly that they named a Free State township after him. His educational work among them was considerable. Later he returned to his mission work, settling in the Inanda location about 25 km north of Durban. His nature was a tranquil and quiet one.
