Two drummer boys of the 3rd Royal Warwickshire Regiment in garrison at Fort Napier, Pietermaritzburg, from 1906 to 1907. Aged about 14 years, the boys led the regimental mascot, a young springbok, at the head of the marching troops. Enlistment of such youngsters in the British army fell away with the outbreak of World War I.
