Handwritten label on page (possibly written by archivist who sorted the collection): "Sotho girl initiates"
Description: There are fifteen young women standing in a row, and each of them appears to be holding a stick. The women are painted with a white mixture, and are wearing skirts made of skin. They have thick coils wrapped around their waists and upper bodies, and their legs are painted various individual patterns.
