Girl on the left is dressed for photograph as a "Ganile" (engaged girl on a trial marriage to future in-laws). The back apron was a family heirloom of the family of Fakazile Mchunu. She was not prepared to sell it as the 'beads are old and hard to get now' and it is hired out to girls for use at such times as the trial marriage. The beadwork was pure Bhaca and reminiscent of that collected by Barbara Tyrrell during the 1960's. Photographed at home of Mrs M. Mtolo at KwaMatakana by Y. Winters on 25.3.1990.
