Some of the shop signs on the buildings: "Cowey Son & Co / Outfitters / [D]rapers, Boot & Shoe Merchants" ; "Singers Sewing Machines"; "H.M. [B]aker & Co". The tram in the foreground has a sign at the front which possibly reads "Durban Berea" and a sign at the back that reads "[Toll] Gate".
