Half head skin of a shark. it is the skin of the smooth hound. mustelus lavis which gets about 150cm long. it is unknown to me how Velabengasho got this half head skin so far away in the interior of the country. |

The ox which is going to be killed by Mashingeni Khumalo with a single stroke of the spear is fastened with a grass rope to a tree. Suasa as the social father of the family is going up and down with his knobstick and praises the ancestors of Madela's to the honour of whom the ox will be killed. |

Bafungile dressed up in an impressive way as the wife of s great medicine man, she herself being an inyangakazi, a female doctor. As bandolier of respect, isihlonipho, she wears a long chain of python bones, iziqu zenhlwathi. Such a bandolier was not observed by the author with any other women. |
