In 1974 the Town Board of Umzinto North was established which brought Park Rynie and Umzinto jointly under the local government of Umzinto North. The new status presented Indian administrators and local residents with considerable challenges. Indians became fully responsible for the full range of services rendered by local authorities such as the provision and administration of municipal services. planning and provision of housing and recreational facilities and the preparation of physical development programmes to ensure orderly and satisfactory expansion of the town.
