Mbhekeni Mhlongo and Velabengasho Khumalo standing in front of Velabengasho's cattle kraal. Some apparel in F. 11/25 and F 9/35. Velabengasho had added voluminious side tails, izinjobo, from the skin of the white-tailed Mongoose.

Velabengasho's wife Gabajana Mhlongo in front of the cattle kraal. At the tops of the posts several cattle horns have been fastened to inform the ancestors ghost that the cattle had been killed in their honour.

When I (Katesa) visited Velabengasho, being accompanied by Laduma and Susa Madela, Velabengasho asked his bones if we might see us again in the future. Two bones representing himself and me ''shook hands'', which he took as a good omen- Fortunately with right.

Before slaughtering the goat Velabengasho praised the ancestors and asked them to protect me. He wears the uniform of a policeman. indeed he was a policeman of the local chief. his wife Gabajana is down on her knees as token of respect, hlonipha. Laduma Madela watches at the right side.

Velabengasho himself started to skin the goat in order to secure proper parts of the skin for iminqwamba, the attribute og izangoma and even of Velabengasho as an inyanga ( medicine man). see " Hand-werke", plate 46.

In the umsamo, the holy back part of Velabengasho's Great hut: Velabengasho's great medicine horn from a female gemsbok, Oryx gazella, which he had inherited from his father. Behind it a black clay vessel, ukhamba, with medicines for ancestor worship.

In the centre the skeleton of an extremely large heron, which has been mounted on a stick. It is Nozalizingwenya ( It which bears crococdiles). It is the Goliath Heron, Ardea goliath. The legs hang downwards.

In the holy umsamo, the back of the h cucumber, unkonko, a species of Mout. Porcupine quills have been added. On the house wall to the left the ghost' calabash, isigubhu sabalozi or isigubhu somoya. it is made from a wart cucumber, unkonko, a species of Momordica.

The pictures IV to IX are taken after my having changed ground in the hut. The Goliath Heron is now looking to the right. the hoof of the mule is on top of theheron's skeleton. To the left the gall bladders of goats and the lump of fOn top of green and black mamba on sticks.

Above the head of the Goliath Heron the head of a small bird. On top of the heron's neck the hoof of a mule. To the left the globular stomach of a vulture as well as the vulture's intestines. Concerning the birds' wings to the right of the heron's head see no. IV

To the left white wings from the Cattle Egret, ilanda, bubulcus ibis ( Roberts, no 61), and to the right white and grey wings from a stilt, isixulamasele ( "Frog catcher") Himantopus.
