Arts and Africa announced that it is only a matter of weeks till we learn which Commonwealth poet is the ovwerall winner of of the prestigious British Airways Commonwealth Poetry Prize. It is well known that for a special prize for a first-time published collection it's Ifi Amediume from Nigeria for her collection "Passion Waves". And for the main prize another Nigerian poet, Niyi Osundare for his collection "The Eye of the Earth".
However, this programme introduce someone special, one of the giants of West African music. The unmistakable King of Highlife, E.T. Mensah from Ghana. He played with his band called, The Tempos, in Accra in the 50's.
