This programme will be considering Wole Soyinka's achievement and what it means for African Literature after it was announced that the 1986 Nobel Prize for Literarture has been awarded to the Nigerian writer, best known as a playwright and poet. This, of course, is the first time that the world's most prestigious literary prise has gone to an African writer.
