There is popular art that is painted for all the world to see and there is the printed short story that can be a private, intimate encounter between writer and reader. This episode is talking talking about them both, when Ben Okri, a Nigerian-born British poet and novelist. Considered one of the foremost African authors in the postmodern and post-colonial traditions talk to Fiona Ledger. He explains that he started writing poetry and then after writing a lot of poems, he began to write short stories for an evening paper.
