The studio guest Lucy Duran, of the British National Sound Archives, is in this programme to give her personal account of a musical journey through the Gambia. She has been to Mali and brought along the recordings of grand, twenty-one stringed instrument, the kora. She basically went to Mali because that is where the music originally comes from, the ancestral homeland not of the instrument itself but of the music. She mentioned the interchange of culture because the kora itself originates from The Gambia and the music comes from Mali.
