Campbell Collections
The trekkers in Natal spent much of their time with rifles in hand, both for self-protection and for the shooting of game for food. To load their guns at the muzzle they used a metal flask, which released the required quantity of gunpowder. A sash was attached for carrying the flask loosely over the shoulder.
