Wet weather did not deter yachting enthusiasts seen here taking part in a Hobie Cat race off Durban yesterday.

Sixty -one schoolchildren from Charles Hugo Primary School in Mayville took to the water yesterday- in two sessions- to learn the rudiments of sailing from members of Point Yacht Club junior section. 

First impressions while looking at the classic shape and clean, uncluttered lines of the Sprog were that this design belonged to another age - a different era where life was taken at a more graceful pace. After all the Sprog has been with us now for about 30 years.

Prepares his boat for the second day's racing of the Finn class week long regatta in Durban. Petrol restrictions have limited the number of competitors to 17, far fewer than normal, with only three country entries.

Durban's Springbok yachtsman Bruce McCurrach received an ward in Johannesburg last night as South Africa's yachtsman of the Year. He got it from Mr. Owen Aisher, a councilor of the International Yacht racing Union, who also donated the cup.
